EDP is a worldwide energy company leader and one of the main operators in the Iberian Peninsula.
The “Grupo” is present in Spain in the production, generation, distribution and marketing of electricity, gas and service.
EDP has, since 2002 – when it got the Hidrocantábrico’s controlling interest-, a very substantial Spanish business portfolio.
The mainly “Grupo” activity is settled in Asturias, Cantabria, Murcia and País Vasco, where is also the leading gas and/or electricity operator. Currently, is the forth gas and electricity producer and distributor, as well as the second natural gas operator.
It has a power in Spain of around 4,000 MW in the standard system and more than 2,000 MW in special system. It exceeds 10,000 GWh generated in its production centers of electric power along a various autonomous regions in Spain.
The EDP business portfolio has more than two million customers all over Spain. Its commercial establishments are located in the main cities of the country.
In Spain, EDP deals with the power distribution business through the electrical “EDP HC Energía” and the gas industry “EDP Naturgas Energía”, with its own brids in eleven autonomous regions.
The group presence is remarkably important in the renewable energy sector. With its subsidiary company “EDP Renovables”, the “Grupo” is one of the worldwide leaders’ operators in wind power, present in twelve countries and with a social brid in Spain, where it exceeds 2,200 MW of installed power.
