EDP is a global energy leader and one of the main operators on the Iberian Peninsula.
The EDP Group is present in Spain in the production, generation, transmission and marketing of electricity, gas and services.
Since 2002, the year in which it acquired a majority stake of Hidrocantábrico, EDP has had an important business portfolio in Spain.
The Group has its main business centres in Asturias, Cantabria, Murcia and the Basque Country, where it is a benchmark operator in gas and/or electricity. It is currently the fourth electricity producer and distributor and the second natural gas operator.
EDP operates in the energy transmission business through EDP HC ENERGÍA electricity company and the EDP NATURGAS ENERGÍA gas company.
With installed power in Spain of nearly 4,000 MW in ordinary regime and over 2,000 MW in special regime, EDP exceeds 10,000 GWh generated in its electricity production centres in the different autonomous region.
EDP has a commercial portfolio of over two million customers throughout Spain, with a turnover that exceeds 21,000 GWh of electricity and 27,000 of natural gas, with commercial offices in the country's main cities.
In Spain, EDP operates in the energy transmission business through EDP HC ENERGÍA electricity company and the EDP NATURGAS ENERGÍA gas compan.
The Group also has a significant presence in the renewable energy segment through its affiliate EDP renewable. It is one of the leading global wind power operators, where it is present in twelve countries and headquartered in Spain, where it exceeds 2,310 MW of installed power.
